DR TOOT Brass & Woodwind Specialist presents the Gonzalez reeds MALBEC for Bb clarinet.
Gonzalez Reeds is one of the leading manufacturers of world-class hand selected clarinet reeds and saxophone reeds. All the raw materials used in their products are grown at the family plantation in “3 de Mayo” at the foot of the Andes mountains.
Unlike the rest of their models, MALBEC is manufactured exclusively with raw material from their Pedregal plantation, located in a very particular zone at the foot of the Andes Mountain Range.
Its scraping is designed to take full advantage of the characteristics of this material. It is a reed with a classic French cut (Filed Cut), so musicians will easily adapt to it. It is characterized by being expressive and with an excellent tone in all registers.
The cane of this plantation is less complex and nuanced than that of the “3 de Mayo” one, maintaining strict harvest and production controls.
The MALBEC reeds are ideal for beginners/students/entry level players. Please note that the MALBEC reeds are softer than the Gonzalez other reeds.

Sadly, I can’t recommend these reeds. They came in a cellophane wrapped box, so as supplied by the manufacturer, but all 5 reeds were damaged and essentially unplayable. I wouldn’t buy any other reeds by Gonzalez (especially as D’Addario reeds are of comparable price and more reliable quality).

Hey Richard, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on the Gonzalez Malbec Strength 1.5 Reeds that you purchased from us for your Bb Clarinet. We were just as surprised and disappointed that you received your box of sealed x5 reeds damaged. This has not happened before and our supplier has provided feedback. Unfortunately due to human as well as machinery errors in the manufacturing stage from time to time, these things do happen. We did replace your damaged reeds as well as sending you a few extras. Gonzalez is a great brand and quality and it is unfortunate that your first experience was negative. We hope you enjoy using your Gonzalez Malbec Reeds.
